Actors Night Out with Oscar

All the actors on this article, with the exception of Javier Bardem, were also nominated for the same roles under the same categories by the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
BEST ACTOR CATEGORY

Javier Bardem ("Biutiful") gives an overpowering performance in the nominated best foreign film as the anguished marketeer Uxbal, a conflicted man who develops cancer and struggles to reconcile fatherhood, love, spirituality, crime, guilt and mortality amidst the dangerous underworld of modern Barcelona.  It is an intricately woven portrait of a man’s despair, artfully executed and heartbreaking.

Jeff Bridges ("True Grit") plays the hardscrabble, irritable, gunslinger that protects the young Stenfeld in the movie.  Bridges
brought his own level of cantankerous behavior, emotional cadence, and his own steely resolve that sets him apart from the rest.
Jesse Eisenberg ("The Social Network") portrays the socially awkward Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in a story that is a scathing indictment of business and power laced with betrayal and revenge.  Jesse didn’t play a carbon copy of Zuckerberg, instead he gave a psychological impression of what it is to be powerful at a young age.

Colin Firth ("The King"s Speech") stars as King George VI who begins working on his stutter with unconventional speech therapist Lionel Logue, and lead Britain to war. Firth expertly portrays the King’s frustration, fear, and embarrassment he felt for so many years. Firth won the Golden Globe and  the Screen Actors Guild Awards for same role.

James Franco ("127 Hours") delivers a stunning performance, depicting Aron Ralston amazing real personal tale of events after he was wedged in a crevice by a rock that pinned his arm to a wall, and the excruciating decision he had to make in order to survive.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR CATEGORY

Christian Bale ("The Fighter") put his buffed body through tremendous trials of sparring and starvation to look like the drug addicted brother to Marc Wahlberg’s boxing character. His kinetic mannerisms and spot-on Boston accent will make you forget he's as Welsh as Anthony Hopkins.  He won the Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild Awards for same role.

John Hawkes ("Winter’s Bone") nominated for his portrayal of a drug-addicted man, down-and-out backwoods sympathetic tough guy who is on a mission to help his niece find her drug-dealing father in the Ozark Mountains.

Jeremy Renner ("The Town") plays one of the bank robbers in Ben Affleck's movie.  Jeremy has already garnered Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Critics Choice nominations for this role.

Mark Ruffalo ("The Kids Are All Right") plays Paul, a bachelor who discovers he’s a sperm-donor dad for a lesbian couple. For this role he finally gets the recognition long due to him after 20 years in the business.

Geoffrey Rush ("The King"s Speech") as the speech therapist helping the King with his stammering issues. His performance is a unique mix of simple self-confidence and roguish humor.  He was nominated for a Satellite Award, the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Award, and won the British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting actor.
